Karim Rashid, 2007
Bonaldo, Italy
For Bonaldo, 2007 was a year of collaborating with designers from different backgrounds, including prolific industrial designer Karim Rashid. The Poly chair gets its name from polycarbonate, the material from which the chair is entirely made through a process of injection molding. Three different prototypes were created during the planning stages, with the aim of obtaining the maximum level of comfort for the seat, and a perfect degree of inclination for the back, combined with virtual testing for the chair’s mechanical resistance. Poly has a youthful, original, geometric design, as both chair and back are made of a series of different intersecting planes, without appearing angular. Poly is both inviting to look at, and comfortable to sit in.
Poly can be stacked, and is also suitable for contract and interior or exterior applications. Poly comes in opaque black or white, or transparent clear, green, pink, orange, or smoke.
